Job Summary

Currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate, financial management, and accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly/quarterly/yearly closings.
  • Manage cash flow, monitor cash balances, and prepare cash forecasts to ensure adequate liquidity.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and develop long-term financial forecasts in collaboration with executive management.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance, including the preparation and submission of all required tax filings and coordination with external tax advisors.
  • Coordinate and lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with financial due diligence for real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing arrangements.
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Identify opportunities for improving financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification required.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 5 years in the real estate industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and real estate accounting practices. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar).
  • Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with real estate regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master's in Accounting or Finance.
  • Certifications such as CCIM or other relevant credentials.
  • Direct experience in managing financial aspects of real estate transactions, including underwriting and financial modeling.
