Our client a global investment manager with significan AUM in Real Estate and a long history and track-record in Japan. 
They are looking for an Associate to join their team in Tokyo, Japan. The client has an international culture, great track record in Japan and attractive benefits.

Role Description

The Real Estate Private Equity Associate will be a member of Japan team and have the opportunity to work across acquisitions, asset management and portfolio management. The candidate would be part of an experienced team of processionals engaged in acquiring and asset managing real estate-related operating companies, assets, and debt. The primary job function is to act as analytical support for all areas of the business. The role will report directly to senior management in the Japan office.

The candidate should have strong analytical and communication skills, a bachelor’s degree and MBA or Master’s degree from an accredited university/college, and be fluent in Japanese and English.
 
Responsibilities
  • Analyze new investment opportunities
  • Analyze new business plans to improve existing assets and portfolio companies with a view towards value creation
  • Preparation of internal investment and asset management memoranda
  • Loan and related deal document review
  • Preparing/updating investment models, discounted cash flow models, and other financial analyses using Excel, including complicated financial modeling, for new and existing investments
  • Gather the best internal (operating partners, lenders, portfolio companies) and external (brokers, market data, consultants) research to help inform investment and asset management decisions
  • Develop monthly/quarterly real estate and other ad hoc investment summaries, prepare high-level presentations and transaction summaries for senior management, investor reporting, and marketing
  • Ad hoc analysis, diligence management and valuation management, as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong academic background – finance, real estate, accounting, or economics degree preferred
  • 3-7 years of experience
  • Strong financial/analytical background, advanced proficiency in MS Office applications with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in Japanese and English
  • Strong logical thinking and mathematical skills, enthusiastic to learn, team player
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, complete projects with minimal oversight, and work extended hours as required
  • Unquestionable integrity and ethics
